PGB SERIES TECHNICAL CALCULATION TABLES
1) MAXIMUM LOAD CAPACITY (VERTICAL / HORIZONTAL)
Assumption: 6 Bar operating pressure, ≈10% friction loss
| Cylinder Ø | Push Force | Horizontal Max Load | Vertical Max Load |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ø12 | 68 N | 6.5 kg | 5.5 kg |
| Ø16 | 121 N | 12 kg | 10 kg |
| Ø20 | 188 N | 19 kg | 16 kg |
| Ø25 | 295 N | 30 kg | 25 kg |
Note: Safety factor ≥1.3 should be used for vertical applications.
2) MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE MOMENT
| Cylinder Ø | Mx (Nm) | My (Nm) | Mz (Nm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ø12 | 1.8 | 2.1 | 1.5 |
| Ø16 | 3.5 | 4.2 | 2.8 |
| Ø20 | 6.8 | 8.5 | 5.4 |
| Ø25 | 11.5 | 14.2 | 9.8 |
Moment Definitions
Mx → Side tipping moment
My → Vertical moment
Mz → Rotational moment
3) SPEED CALCULATION
Formula:
V = Q / A
V → Cylinder speed
Q → Flow rate
A → Piston area
4) SPEED TABLE
| Cylinder Ø | 10 L/min | 20 L/min | 30 L/min |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ø12 | 0.28 m/s | 0.56 m/s | 0.84 m/s |
| Ø16 | 0.16 m/s | 0.32 m/s | 0.48 m/s |
| Ø20 | 0.10 m/s | 0.21 m/s | 0.32 m/s |
| Ø25 | 0.06 m/s | 0.13 m/s | 0.20 m/s |
5) SAFE SPEED vs LOAD
| Load Level | Recommended Max Speed |
|---|---|
| Light (<30%) | 0.8 m/s |
| Medium (30–60%) | 0.5 m/s |
| Heavy (60–90%) | 0.25 m/s |
| Max (>90%) | 0.15 m/s |
6) AIR CONSUMPTION
Formula:
Air Consumption = Cylinder Volume × Cycle × Pressure Factor
7) ENGINEERING SELECTION SUMMARY
| Application | Recommended Model |
|---|---|
| Light positioning | Ø12 / Ø16 |
| Medium load | Ø20 |
| Heavy load + moment | Ø25 |
| Precision positioning | Magnetic version |
